Lenore had to say...

My head doesn't rattle when I shake it.

I love to cook, and of course I've got a ridiculous number of cookbooks.  I love to work out - step aerobics, yoga (badly - I fall over in class frequently), weightlifting, and I enjoy studying martial arts (thankfully I'm more coordinated there).

Naturally, I love to read - sci-fi, horror, romance, fantasy, political thrillers, some non-fiction, you name it...I have a strange and inexplicable loathing for books by Louis Lamour and Christine Feehan (sorry, I know they have lots of fans).

Favorite writers include Robert Heinlein, Shakespeare (really), Tom Clancy, Anne Bishop, Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Alton Brown, Joss Whedon (he's a writer too!  Even if it is for TV! C'mon!), Robert B. Parker, Neil Gaiman (Sandman series specifically), Julie Garwood, Jennifer Roberson, Douglas Adams...and so many more that my bookcases are GROANING!

I would love to be able to travel more.

Did you know that there are well established web sites where people trade everything from couch space to their homes?  Simultaneous vacation exchanges and hospitality/hosting trades - I'm dying to try that because it sounds like a great cheap way to see some great places - and while I'm always looking for a way to become embarrassingly wealthy in the future...until then, I'm all about the cheap entertainment - thank goodness for PBS!

Volunteer, Miami Book Fair 11/2007 featuring PBS booth

I volunteered for an 8 hour shift at the PBS booth on Friday November 9, 2007, for the Miami Book Fair.   Sandy & Richard were great at organizing and coordinating, and made sure we had everything we needed waiting for us.

I had a pretty good time actually, passed out a lot of flyers and info about PBS and yelling at people attending the fair as they wandered by, "trade books with other members, absolutely free!" to get attention.

You'd think that free book trading would be a no-brainer and an instant hit at, gee, a BOOK FAIR, lol, but boy, did I get quite a few totally dismissive and dubious looks when I said "Free"...they think you're trying to sell 'em something, lol.   I found that mentioning that I was an unpaid volunteer seemed to help allay some suspicion. :)

Anyway, it was cool, I'd do it again...always nice to help support PBS - after all, the more people who sign up, the more titles we've all got access to!
